Pleasley Surgery was acknowledged as a Dementia Friendly Practice. We are also actively involved in helping Mansfield and Ashfield become a Dementia Friendly Community by getting involved and providing Dementia Friends Awareness Sessions; raising money for Forget Me Not a local dementia charity and working with the Dementia Action Alliance to support people living with Dementia in our areas.

Befriending Groups
Kingfisher Court
Kingfisher Court and Jigsaw hold a Befriending Group on the 1st Tuesday of every month from 14:00 – 16:00 which launched on 5th June with a 1940’s theme.
Calvery Church, Eakring Road
Calvery Church on Eakring Road have a free resource to tap into on Fridays 11:30 – 14:00 to help with writing letters and other administration difficulties. Lunch is also provided.
Sit2Gether
Sit2Gether is held at The Oaklands Memory Café, Oakfield Lane, Warsop every 4 weeks 13:00 – 15:00. This is a social inclusion project with table tennis and board games etc. For more details call 01623 842080.
Forget me not support group
For people with dementia, their carers, families and friends in North Nottinghamshire. Group meetings include support, friendship and information with discussions, speakers and activities. Social outings and therapies are included in future plans, according to what members choose to do. Meetings: 3rd Monday, 1.30pm-3.30pm,
Community Centrepoint, Trinity, Diamond Avenue, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, NG17 7GN. 50p charge at meetings for refreshments. Giving you peace of mind with The Herbert Protocol
Do you know or care for someone with dementia? This form could help you if your loved one goes missing we want to make sure we have all of the information we need, as quickly as possible, and this form can help us do that.
The Herbert Protocol is a national scheme, first introduced by West Yorkshire Police, which encourages carers to compile useful information which could be used in the event of a vulnerable person going missing. The initiative is named after George Herbert, a War veteran of the Normandy landings, who lived with dementia.
Carers, family members and friends can complete in advance, a form recording all vital details, such as medication required, mobile numbers, places previously located, a photograph etc. In the event of your family member or friend going missing, the form can be easily sent or handed to us to reduce the time taken in gathering this information. We can then spend our time supporting you during a frightening time, locate them more quickly and safeguard them more effectively.
You can download as many copies as you like from our website. You may never have to use the form, but it can act as a piece of mind knowing that you have the information ready to hand; it takes just 10 minutes to fill out. We recommend that you give copies to family members, friends, neighbours and any care or support groups that your loved one may visit.
